Performers

Caitlin Howden originally hails from Montreal, but moved to Toronto to study theatre at Ryerson University. She is a member of “Uncalled For” (JFL 2008, Best of the Fest- Toronto Sketch Fest 2008) and has toured festivals across Canada and performed with some of improv’s finest including The Crumbs (Winnipeg), General Fools (Regina), Rapid Fire (Edmonton) and Dad’s Garage (Atlanta). She was also chosen to perform at Just for Laughs with Martin Short. Caitlin performed and completed the 54 hour DieNasty Soapathon (Directed by Dana Anderson). She has most recently wrote and performed in four main stage revues at The Second City (Toronto), earning multiple Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Comedic Play, Best Improv Troupe and Best Sketch Troupe. Caitlin was also nominated for CCA’s Best Female Improviser, twice.

Alistair Cook is known for his work with the Canadian Improv Games, !nstant Theatre Co, Improvisation.ca, Improvcamp, Vancouver TheatreSports League, Kitchen Party and the Vancouver International Improv Festival. He is famous, however, for his work with Spray n Wash. Alistair has been learning how to improvise for close to 20 years and still likes it a lot. Someday he’ll figure it out.
Christine Bortolin is a graduate of the Douglas College Theatre program and is currently completing her BFA at UBC. She enthusiastically volunteers for the Canadian Improv Games in many facets, is part of the Vancouver Comedic Players, and is half of the lovely duo Sister Act with Bita Joudaki (with music by Aaron Read). Christine has studied improvised theatre for around 9 years and has had a lot of help along the way. You may have seen her in recent shows about town such as Hecuba, When Ya Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?, Imperfect, and The Marriage of Bette & Boo. Christine thanks you very much for supporting live theatre.
Craig Anderson has been improvising in Vancouver and across North America for 4 years, including work with !nstant Theatre, Second City, The Impatient Theatre Co., and the Vancouver International Improv Festival. Craig is a member of The Sunday Service, one half of comedy duo Bronx Cheer, and performs with The Vancouver Theatresports League. He also produces and stars in the webseries With Friends Like These and Mental Beast.

Devin Mackenzie will remind you why you enjoyed being a kid so much. He has been improvising since the dawn of the century, including as a mainstage cast member with Vancouver Theatresports League, co-president of UBCimprov, and as one half of the touring group Hip.Bang! He is also a co-founder of local sketch group Pump Trolley Comedy and one of the hosts of the Exploding Sandwich podcast.
Devon Lougheed has been performing comedy for eight years and music for twenty-five. He is falling in love with you as you read this. His band’s new record is available as a name-your-price download at bkpr.ca.
Ian Rowe has been performing improv comedy across Canada for more than 15 years. Currently he performs in shows around Vancouver, including the popular Vancouver TheatreSports League. He is a founding Artistic Director of Toronto’s Ghost Jail Theatre Company and has performed regularly in the popular Toronto shows Catch23, Project Project and The National Theatre of the World’s Carnegie Hall Show. Before moving to Toronto, Ian appeared for ten years as a regular performer in Rapid Fire Theatre’s Theatresports as well as in their ground breaking long-form improvisational theatre show Chimprov. As an Actor Ian has performed in a variety of short films and for theatre companies including Teatro La Quindicina, The Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, and Panties Productions. He is the author of the plays “Kimota” and “Do it Right” both directed by Chris Craddock.
Kaitlin Fontana is an award-winning writer and an improviser. She has performed with Rosa Parks Improv, !nstant Theatre, UBC Improv and the Vancouver TheatreSports League, and has studied and performed at the Magnet Theatre in New York City. She’s also one-half of acclaimed sketch comedy duo Pony Hunters with Nicole Passmore, and has toured North America with her slow comedy duo Buckshot N Benny. She will soon have a master’s degree in creative writing from UBC.
Tegan Verheul has been improvising since the day she was born, because her parents forgot to bring a script to the hospital. After graduating from the Theatre program at Langley Fine Arts School, Tegan went on to train at the Lyric School of Acting and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. During this time, she continued “doing real art” as an improvisor, and studied under such industry greats as Keith Johnstone, Randy Dixon, and Ken Rea. Tegan is a member of the Vancouver comedy collective Pump Trolley, and also performs with the Vancouver TheatreSports League’s Rookie League. She is very excited to be a part of Ghost Jail Theatre.
